     What does it do?
It is used for protection for safety around water. If you drop an electric appliance in water while plugged in to the gfci outlet, the GFCI outlet will shut off.
     
      Where does it go in the house?
In kitchens, bathroom, garages, outside , or anywhere  water can be used.
